Cadetship Program

Cadetships

If you’re a year-12 student you’ll soon be making important choices about your further education and preferred career path.

KPMG’s Cadetship Recruitment Program is an option worth considering. Here’s how it works.

  • A cadetship placement is available to students intending to study for a commerce or business degree majoring in accounting or information systems.
  • It involves working full-time and studying part-time for the first 2 years. KPMG helps with substantial study leave and time off to attend lectures.
  • In the third and fourth years, a cadet attends university full-time and works during vacations. Vacation income is supplemented by a weekly allowance.
  • Cadetships are offered only by our Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth offices.

Some offices offer a different program structure. Under this structure, cadets study full-time from February to June of each year. From July to January they work full-time and study part-time. Study leave and allowances are similar to the first program structure.

Under both programs, cadets will commence permanent full-time employment with KPMG on graduation.

International students are not eligible to apply for this program.

 Chartered Accountant Program

Do you want to become a Chartered Accountant?

It can put you on track for career growth across a range of disciplines. It’s why the Chartered Accountant (CA) Program is the postgraduate qualification most often completed at KPMG. The course is conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA).

We value the CA qualification highly, and provide all participating employees with support during the demanding program, including:

  • financial support to cover the cost of fees and textbooks
  • study leave
  • training and mentoring including coursework, additional training materials and mock exams
  • forums to network and discuss coursework with other participants.

KPMG is the only firm to provide in-house training for CA studies. Our candidates receive more training hours than those who receive support from external providers. Our  strong mentoring culture also assists candidates while they complete the program. Many of our CA qualified people are involved in running internal training sessions and marking mock exams.

KPMG receives strong results through our highly regarded in-house program. Our average pass rate for FY2009 was 10 percent higher than the national average pass rate.

At any given time approximately 20 percent of our client service people are undertaking CA studies.

Hear from some KPMG people who are currently undertaking CA Program studies.

Following changes in the entry requirements for the CA Program, the ICAA will now be allowing non-accounting graduates to complete the program. If you are a non-accounting student and interested in KPMG, please speak to your KPMG recruiter who will be happy to share more information on our exciting opportunities for non-accounting students.
