Associate Research Fellow / Research Fellow Australian Institute for Innovative Materials POSITION TYPE Fixed Term (3 Year) Appointment CLOSING 3 July 2016 REF NO. 25748 The Institute for Superconducting and Electronic Materials (ISEM) at the University of Wollongong is a world leading materials research group, conducting its research in a wide range of research fields including superconductors, electronic materials, energy materials and management systems, thin film technology, and nano-/bio- materials. The ISEM is housed within the Australian Institute for Innovative Materials (AIIM) which provides an outstanding, world-class research infrastructure environment. The position is created for an urgent need to perform high quality research on novel quantum materials and novel quantum effect at ISEM. The program will strongly correlate with research tasks targeted by a recently successful ARC Future Fellowship program (FT130100778). These includes synthesis of novel spin gapless materials, novel doped and magnetically doped topological insulators, magnetic, transport measurements, theoretical simulation and DFT calculations. The successful candidate will be instrumental in high quality materials characterisation techniques, including but not limited to electromagnetic characterisation of materials using a PPMS and surface-sensitive techniques. A strong background in magnetism, electronic structure and solid state physics is desirable. A demonstrated ability to perform high-level modelling using various simulation software packages will be advantageous. The position will also be critical in providing high quality postgraduate research training, preparation and dissemination of research findings through journal articles and participation at conferences, making links with industrial partners for ARC linkage projects, applying ARC DP and DECRA projects and other external and internal grants.
