Area: Northern Suburbs

The Role:
Provide active support to a young man with Autism and complex needs to ensure he lives a meaningful life and achieves set developmental goals. Including assistance with personal care, activities within the community, administration of medication, transportation, implement his behavior support plan and Epilepsy management plan. Independent living skills and co-active-participation in a range of sporting activities and sensory program.

Current shifts: - 8.30am-12.00pm & 12.00pm-3.30pm

Key Selection Criteria:-

Minimum 12 months paid work experience

Experience working with young adults with Autism with complex needs

Experience in PEC's - Picture Exchange Communication highly regarded

Must be fluent in English, good communicator and well presented

Current First Aid Level 2, CPR, medication awareness, Epilepsy training

Minimum Certificate 4 in Disability

Police check completed within the last 6 months

Current Victorian driver's licence

2 current referee checks available

You must be energetic, enthusiastic, quick to learn. Able to build rapport quickly with the client and understand how to build on strengths and work within a small team of two people plus the client daily. Previous experience in a day program, special development school setting or working one to one with clients with Autism highly regarded. Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support Plans/Person Centered Planning highly sort after.
We are seeking a person who has had experience with complex clients, who can assist the current team members in building our program.Team meetings are held fortnightly and within the rostered hours. You must have a friendly positive attitude to work and life and enjoy the company of people with a disability.

This is a great opportunity if you enjoy working with young people with a disability and like a challenge, enjoy the outdoors and seeing success for the individual.

Experienced people need only apply, this is a very specific role, one that needs a lot of patience and understanding of Autism.
