FELLOW - JOURNALISM Job no: 0039684 Work type: Fixed Term Location: Parkville School of Culture & Communication (Centre for Advanced Journalism) Faculty of Arts Salary: $81,998 - $88,016 (pro rata) plus 9.5% superannuation The Centre for Advancing Journalism (CAJ) is housed within the School of Culture & Communication. CAJ seeks to advance Journalism through innovation in teaching, experimentation and engagement. CAJ is a hub of thinking, conversation and creativity. The Fellow will be responsible for establishing a blog supported by a strong social media presence on Twitter and Facebook, which will be directly addressed to journalists. The Fellow will be supported by the Centre for Advancing Journalism staff and partner organisations VicHealth, Domestic Violence Victoria and the Victorian Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission through training, counselling and introductions to sources and meetings as necessary. The role will include: * Critiquing and endorsing examples of reporting on violence against women * Suggesting additional sources and perspectives on examples currently in the news * Conducting original reporting, particularly through interviews with sources being neglected by mainstream news * Hosting online discussions about the position of women in the newsroom * Writing plain language accounts of the findings of the research relevant to this project * Working cooperatively with the research team and the editorial staff of The Citizen (wwwthecitizen.org.au) Close date: 21 Oct 2015 Position Description* (*includes Selection Criteria or Core Accountabilities and Competencies) 0039684 Fellow Journalism.pdf Advertised: 23 Sep 2015 12:00 AM Aus.
