Immediate start for a production assistant with forklift experience to commence with a well-known company. This varied role will provide valuable support to the existing operations as it experiences a surge in activity in the region

Client Details

Our client is one of Australia's premier manufacturers and suppliers of steel and reinforced steel products with operations across every state. The Port Macquarie branch is experiencing increased activity due to the increase in construction, infrastructure and housebuilding activities in the region. As such, they are looking to add an important resource to their long-standing team to help manage the extra workload.


The role on offer will vary from day to day. As a small but very busy production site you will be expected to contribute to every part of the operation from production to delivery. The majority of the work will revolve around the operation of steel cutting and bending machinery as well as forklift operation (loading and unloading trucks) There will also be need to be able to weld footing cages and to prepare finished product for delivery by pick/packing. There will be plenty of manual handling involved so you should be physically capable of doing this type of work. Above all there should be a significant focus on safety.

To recap, the main duties contain (but will not be limited to):

  • Cutting and bending reinforcing steel (training will be provided).
  • Welding footing cages, tack welding only(training will be provided).
  • Picking customer orders for pick up.
  • Forklift operation
  • Heavy emphasis on Safety.


Is an ideal candidate you will likely possess most if not all of the following skills:

  • Have previous experience of working with production machinery (training will be provided).
  • The ability to thrive in a small team environment that is well established
  • Previous experience of (MIG) welding although formal qualification not essential
  • Forklift ticket
  • Be physically able to undertake various manual handling duties as required
  • Be able to work unsupervised as required
  • Adhere to strict WHS requirements and have a proactive focus on safety
  • Be able to produce work to a high standard of quality

Job Offer

This is an opportunity to work in a great team environment with a stable well know company. You would be working a casual assignment offering 38-40 hours per week and a competitive hourly rate. Hours are Monday to Friday with an immediate start available for the right person
