The program

Having a good social connections are essential for all aspects of health, especially as we age. A Community Visitor volunteer is matched with an elderly person who experiences social isolation and who will benefit from your company. You will undertake face to face visits at least once per fortnight to provide social interaction, companionship and friendship. The older people you visit may either be living at home or in an aged care facility.
The opportunity
the role suits someone with minimum age of 18. This volunteering role provides you with an opportunity to undertake activities that are appropriate to the participant. This may include listening to music together, playing cards or board games, reminiscing or simply having a chat and maintain regular communication with the Red Cross CVS Coordinator to discuss your visits and any concerns that may arise
The impact

As a Social Support volunteer you will be involved in improving the wellbeing of those experiencing extreme vulnerability. Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the World's largest humanitarian network.
