Anaesthetics - Staff Specialist, Broken Hill Health Service, NSW The Broken Hill Health Service is seeking a Specialist Anaesthetist to commence as soon as possible. The applicant should hold a FRANZCA or equivalent. Broken Hill is the centre of the Far West New South Wales outback and is 500km north east of Adelaide and 1,100 km west of Sydney. There are daily flights to major cities. The Broken Hospital has 100 beds that services a wide area with a population of 25,000 people. It is a rural teaching hospital, providing acute, non-acute and outpatient services, including dialysis and chemotherapy. It has an emergency department, general medical, surgical, obstetric & gynaecology, paediatric, mental health and sub-acute beds. Work is underway to enhance the level of ICU and CCU. Support services include Pathology, Medical Imaging (CT Scan), as well as a wide range of Allied and Primary Health services. Responsibilities of this role includes providing professional specialist anaesthetics care to acute and elective surgery public and private patients, after-hour on-call, education of junior staff and some administrative duties. There is potential for an academic appointment. An attractive remuneration package includes additional leave, education allowance and furnished housing.
