Our client is a NSW State Government corporation and one of Australia's largest water utilities providing safe drinking water to almost five million people across Sydney, the Blue Mountains and the Illawarra. They also have responsibilities in relation to the provision of wastewater and some stormwater services to help protect the health of our rivers and beaches.

The Role

Our client is seeking to engage an experienced Modelling Engineer to develop and/or maintain calibrated and validated Source and/or TUFLOW model for a given water catchment area to assess the impact of future growth and servicing on the broader catchment system, including but not limited to: Erosion; Nutrient management; Discharges from wastewater treatment plants, stormwater and other diffuse sources; Changes in land use and growth.

Demonstrated Skills & Experience
  • A civil or environmental engineering background particularly relevant to water industry
  • Thorough understanding of model services, practices and procedures
  • Ability to meet project milestones and SLA deadlines for modelling output
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of Source and/or TUFLOW modelling
  • Experience and or training in programming using Matlab
  • Technical expertise in calibration and validation of models for use as a planning support tool to undertake servicing strategies, detailed planning (options reports), etc
  • Experience in understanding interpreting business needs and outcomes and using modelling tools to provide information and advice to strategist, planners and other information consumers
  • Demonstrated experience in mapping, surveying, data analysis and/or aquatic ecology
