The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is an independent statutory Commonwealth agency. Our role is to implement the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which will support a better life for hundreds of thousands of Australians with a significant and permanent disability and their families and carers. We are now seeking to fill a range of expected or future ongoing and non-ongoing APS4 to APS5 Planner roles in a range of sites. Please review the position description for a more in depth list of sites with possible vacancies and note not all roles will be available in each location.

Our Planners are responsible for conducting planning conversations and risk assessments and making reasonable and necessary decisions in accordance with the NDIS Act 2013. The core elements of our Planner roles is to:

  • Gather information to make informed decisions within defined parameters
  • Work closely with participants to identify what current and future supports are required to make progress with a person's goals and aspirations and enable better outcomes.
  • Provide information to participants and their representatives to identify their goals and aspirations
  • Conduct planning conversations with participants to create plans to support the goal of living an ordinary life
The complexity of each plan or conversation will vary, depending on your APS level of employment. For those engaged as Senior Planners, you will also have some supervisory or mentoring duties in addition to the above. For further specific information on each Planner role can be found in the below position descriptions.

Position Specifics

  • These roles may be subject to the Workforce Schedule of the Bilateral Agreement between the Commonwealth and each state and territory government for the transition to the NDIS. This may impact on vacancies being available in locations listed above. Furthermore, this may impact the ability to offer these roles as ongoing.
  • These positions will offered as Non-Ongoing in the first instance, for a period up to 12 months duration with the possibility of extension up to three years.
  • Should any offered non-ongoing position become ongoing, the Order of Merit established through this selection process may be used to fill the vacancy in an ongoing basis.
