The University

The Opportunity
Established six years ago, through a joint venture between Monash University
and the Government of Victoria, the Australian Regenerative Medicine Institute
(ARMI) is committed to revolutionary discoveries and therapeutic strategies
that lead to restoring health and normal function, repairing damaged tissues
and regenerating the ageing body.
Accommodated in a purpose-designed building with state-of-the-art
laboratories, with local access to internationally recognised core research
facilities including the Australian Synchrotron and Aquacore (one the largest
aquatic research facilities in Australia), the institute's research focuses on
four key research themes: Heart and Muscle Development and Regeneration,
Immunity and Regeneration, Stem Cells and Regeneration and Neural Regeneration.
Replacing the Foundation Director after a most successful period of
leadership, the new institute director will be a research scholar of high
international standing. He or she will be selected on their ability to take the
institute through its post-establishment stage to the next phase of growth and
development. The director will be responsible for the scientific program of the
institute leading an internationally recognised program in consultation with
institute, faculty and Monash University.
As a research institute of Monash University, the director is also responsible
for the overall management and the implementation of the policies and budgets
approved by the University to achieve agreed goals consistent with the
institute's vision.
