Senior Child and Youth Worker - Mount Gambier

This is a position located in Mount Gambier.

The Senior Child and Youth Worker is a role within OoHC Directorate: Residential Care Services and is accountable to the Supervisor for:
  • Supporting Child and Youth Workers and Child and Youth Support Workers to deliver quality outcomes for children and young people in care.
  • Enhancing child and youth worker capacity and providing direction in the principles of child and youth work practice by providing support and practice guidance.
  • Facilitating and increasing the opportunity for successful experiences and intervention of children and young people in care.
  • Contributing to the delivery and improvement of programs and services which facilitate the development of children and young people.
  • Recognising and maintaining the rights of children and young people.

Special Conditions:
  • The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Communities and Social Inclusion (DCSI) Child-Related Employment Screening prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every three years before expiry.
  • The incumbent may be assigned to another location at this remuneration level or its equivalent and the work may involve the management of children within various age groups.
  • A current HLTAID004 - Provide Emergency First Aid in an Education Care Setting is essential.
  • Required to undertake shift work on an AM and PM rostered basis including week-end and Public Holidays, where applicable.
  • Required to be on call on a rostered basis, where applicable.
  • Required to hold a current driver's license (P2 or above), and be able and willing to drive in the course of the duties of the role.
  • May be required to perform duties in other locations/divisions/units dependent upon Departmental requirements.
  • Australian residency or current work permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).

Additional Notes:
There are multiple ongoing, temporary/term and casual roles available. Applications are being sought for appointment or inclusion into a pool. The pool will remain open for 12 months
