Society of Sound (SOS) is an Australian music collective and website, which was founded in Brisbane in 2012. Originally student led, we have undergone massive adaptations to be where we are as a music organisation. 

Our main focus is to discover and celebrate talented, local artists. It's music that we're passionate about, regardless of genre. We are dedicated to helping our audiences discover the best underground music in their local community. 

We're a highly innovative team that encourages each other to grow and learn more as passionate creative individuals in their field. And most importantly, we all share a genuine, deep love for good sounds made by good people.

As the music industry develops and evolves, we are dedicated to keeping up with new trends and technologies. In 2017 we will be focusing heavily on videography, for a more up to date and intimate coverage of gigs, festivals and interviews. 


Our dynamic team at SOS are looking for passionate new music videographers who are capable of capturing the vibrant and high energy environment of the Brisbane music scene. We are looking for talented and dedicated interns who have an eye for detail and can capture the essence of live music. This role is best for those that are wishing to expand their portfolios and gain opportunities to shoot a wide variety of circumstances.

Minimum equipment/skills needed:  

- D-SLR CAMERA or adequate equipment for the puropse of professional grade videography (lens, microphone etc.)  

- Editing Software: Lightroom or Adobe Photoshop

- Basic editing skills in an NLE program (Premier Pro, Final Cut etc)

To be considered for a place within the ever expanding Society of Sound team you should have the following attributes: 

- Have a passion for music and attending live gigs 

- Have a keen eye for capturing the moment 

- Fantastic communication skills

- Reliable and driven 

- Enjoy honest and real conversations with up and coming creatives 

- Be a vibrant team player and personable individual 

- Be adaptable and open-minded 

- Knowledge of Lightroom and/or Adobe Photoshop are a must 

- Knowledge of Wordpress is an added bonus, but not essential 

- Knowledge of social media sites (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat etc)

- Be able to commit to 1 shoot fortnightly 

Must meet minimum equipment/skills needed    


- Gain experience making videos for a successful expanding business 

- Have the opportunity to develop your skills in videography, editing, networking and how to share your content online

- Receive media access to gigs around Brisbane and surrounds for video purposes 

- Understand the importance of branding and social media 

- Have your creative work published on multiple platforms and shared with publicity teams and artists themselves 

- Have fun being part of a growing initiative who value live music and our local scene 

- Meet fortnightly with like-minded individuals and discuss ideas in an open space 

- Immerse yourself in the local music scene and the immense talent that is emerging
